My jewish Ukranian grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease over a decade ago.

 

Her condition was slowly declining until she passed away in May 2020, during the covid pandemic. I was neither able to see her, say goodbye, nor attend the funeral due to the strict restrictions at the time.

 

These photographs document her daily life and fight with Alzheimer's disease while paying tribute to her incredible strength. This project is also perhaps an attempt to keep her alive.
