this is water
Water has always held a special place in my life—its movement, mystery, and rhythm endlessly captivate and inspire me. With this series, I embarked on a global journey to explore the many forms and expressions of water. It symbolizes freedom, fluidity, and the ever-changing wonder of existence. It embodies the duality of constant transformation and timeless presence.
From the serene surface of the Mediterranean to the patterns carved by Pacific tides, from a cascading Costa Rican waterfall to the surreal stillness of the Dead Sea, I seek to capture the essence of water and spark a sense of awe and reverence in the viewer. My lens also turned skyward: toward clouds drifting past airplane windows, fog veiling frozen landscapes, and the invisible dance between air and water.
David Foster Wallace’s essay This is Water recounts a brief story in which two young fish pass an older one who asks, “How’s the water?”—only to realize they’ve never truly seen it. This parable resonates deeply with me. It reminds us to notice what surrounds us, and to find beauty in what we often take for granted.
Water, in all its manifestations, is my muse. With each image, I hope to awaken a renewed sensitivity to the world around us and inspire a deeper appreciation for nature’s boundless, overlooked wonders.
